GUARDIAN ANGEL'S Role (you should know this...) - Fr. Mark Goring, CC
Each one of us has been assigned a Guardian Angel by God. Please listen to Fr Mark’s enlightening comments on our Guardian Angels (what they’re there for, who might not be a Holy Angel, etc.).
These concepts and actions have been forgotten by many, if not most, Catholics, who grow up and dismiss these as “childish ideas,” and think that Guardian Angels are not unlike Santa Claus — just fantasy creations for children.
Not so.
By golly, we need all the help we can get in doing or saying the right thing, especially in these crazy days of our swimming in a sea of lies. In the softness of our lives of convenience, we are easily distracted and deceived by the doings of the Devil, as we choose words or actions out of convenience. (Such as wearing the mask and/or getting the poison jab because of the money, keeping the job, for the ease of travel, of availing of goods and services, etc. Not judging anyone for their ill-conceived choices, but it’s a complex process and varied causation for these decisions unfortunately arrived at by so many people. Many were harmed by these decisions, too, alas.)
(By the way, the Devil may be dancing, but he knows his time is near. Thus we witness him ramping up the chaos and mayhem on earth. Exorcists know this about his behavior.)
I have used with great success the Padre Pio action mentioned by Fr Mark of asking one’s Guardian Angel to talk to another person’s Guardian Angel — if this other person was one with a reputation for being “difficult”, or a tense situation is anticipated. In those few instances, the other person turns out to actually be decent, even downright pleasant, to deal with!
Love Fr Mark’s pastoral teachings. He’s down-to-earth yet so wise for one so (seemingly) young. Always learn something important from his homilies.
PRAY THIS daily, at the beginning and at the end of the day (replacing “day” with “night” before sleeping):
Prayer to Your Guardian Angel
Angel of God, my guardian dear,
to whom God’s love commits me here,
ever this day be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide.
Amen.
So just recently I was visiting Mission San Diego de Alcalá, as I like to pray and do reflective meditation in the Church. They play Gregorian chants in the Church which adds to the whole prayer experience.
In their ‘gift shop’ they have a rack of laminated prayer cards with all manner of saints. They had a Guardian Angel Prayer Card and I bought one for each of my Niece’s young daughters.
It’s a prayer I learned as a child and had not forgotten it, but had not said it in years. I’m going to incorporate it into my morning and night time prayers! Thanks for sharing Fr. Goring’s Guardian Angel message. 🙏🏼😇
Wonderful reminder of the beautiful gifts & protections our Creator has endowed us with! Thank-you for sharing!
